F.A.Q.

Here are some common questions about SGFLUG – Springfield LEGO Users Group.

Meeting
Info

Does it cost to come to a meeting?

No, attendance is free.  If we draft a set, or play a game, those who participate will be asked to bring a set or pay a fee for the purchased set.

When do you meet?

The first Saturday of the month.

Where do you meet?

One of the Springfield Libraries.

Will there be bricks to play with at the meeting?

Probably not unless you bring them.  Please keep in mind people work very hard on their creations and some are very delicate.

We get a bunch of free LEGO when we come right?

Sadly no!

Can I bring my "Kid Fan of LEGO" (KFOL) or Teen Fan of Lego (TFOL)?

Yes. But… (please fully review below):

  • Anyone under the age or 18 must be accompanied at all times by their parent or guardian.
  • Please keep in mind, this is an Adult Fans of Lego (AFOL) group (18+).  Depending on your kid (teen), they will likely be powerfully bored.
  • If an adult member is attending and feels their kid (teen) will find the discussion enriching (or if the adult member could otherwise not attend) it is fine to bring your young person along.
  • The big take away is this is a group for adults age 18+.  If you are an adult builder this is a group for you!  If you are an adult, and your kid is the builder and you want you kid to attend, this might not be the group for you.

LEGO
Questions

What are all these acronyms?

Here are a few basic ones.

AFOL – Adult Fan of LEGO
TFOL – Teen Fan of LEGO
KFOL – Kid Fan of LEGO
SNOT – Studs Not on Top
LDD – LEGO Digital Designer (a CAD like program)

LEGO is for kids right?

By now you have probably guessed the answer is absolutely no.  The AFOL community has been around a long time.  Some of the greatest builders in the world are fans.

Is the plural of LEGO, LEGO or LEGOs?

LEGO.  Whether referencing the lego corporation (LEGO) or a massive amount of LEGO bricks, LEGO would be the correct term for both singular and plural use.  IE, much like you would use for the word sand.  “That fine person has two buckets of sand.”

I have this old LEGO I don't want anymore, do you want it?

Maybe! Please Contact Us using the link at the top of the page.
